The impact of the De Pictura on the figurative arts can already be seen in the works of contemporary artists, and continued up to the sixteenth century. The literary origin of certain masterpieces is also based on Alberti's suggestions, as in the case of Botticelli's Calunnia di Apelle. The De Re Aedificatoria was an immediate editorial success, as illustrated by the printed edition commissioned in 1485 by Lorenzo il Magnifico, with a preface by Agnolo Poliziano, and the translation from Latin into Italian.
